The Jefferson Schools Alumni Association, Inc. was formed to perpetuate the history of the schools of Marion County and Jefferson ISD. The $5.00 per year annual dues, as established by the By-Laws of the Association, are used to perpetuate the Association and to provide at least one annual scholarship to a Jefferson High School graduating senior.
2014 Scholarship Recipients
Due to the generous contributions through donations and memberships, the JHS Alumni Association has granted scholarships to the following 2014 graduating JHS seniors: Micah Ames – Valedictorian – Texas A & M-College Station; Haley Moore – Salutatorian – Texas Christian University; Meridith Eppler – 3rd place – University of Texas-Austin; Abbie Clark – University of North Texas; Trista Johnson – Sam Houston State University; Rameha Green – Sam Houston State University; Tyler Roberson – Sam Houston State University; Alyssa Grubaugh – Northwestern State University; Morgan Jeffley – Texas A & M-Commerce; Cameron Grubbs – East Texas Baptist University; Dalton Wolverton – Tarleton State University; Brayden Varnell – Sam Houston State University.
2013 Scholarship Recipients
Due to the generous contributions through donations and memberships, the JHS Alumni Association has granted eleven scholarships to the following 2013 graduating JHS seniors: Aaron Cossman (Texas A & M-Texarkana), Sadarius Figures (Tarleton State University), Lane House (Texas A &M – Commerce), Kailon Jackson (Northeast Texas Community College), Raven Johnson, Jacob Laster (Stephen F. Austin State University), Kathryne LaBell (Tulane University), Kirsten May (Tyler Junior College), Olivia Smith (University of Houston), Jade Turner (UT at Arlington), Kaitlyn Whatley (Baylor University)
Due to the generous contributions through donations and memberships, the JHS Alumni Association has granted six – $500 scholarships to 2012 graduating JHS seniors. The recipients are Ben Bode (Texas A&M), Valedictorian of the 2012 class, Trevor Johnson (Tyler Jr. College), Amanda McGahen (Tyler Jr. College), Grace McDonald (University of North Texas), Zach Powell (UT-Tyler), and Carly Wall (Texarkana College). The presentations were made by Frankie Stone, President, at the Awards Banquet which was held Tuesday night, May 22nd. We congratulate all of the 2012 graduating seniors.
In 2011, due to the generosity of the alumni members with donations over and above the $5/year annual dues, four $500 scholarships were awarded. 2011 scholarships were awarded to: Miranda Anderson (Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant, TX) , Bobbie Cooks (The University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, TX), Stephanie Phy (Stephen F. Austin University, Nacogdoches, TX), and Drew D. Tidwell (Panola College, Carthage, TX). Qualifications to receive the scholarship are minimal: a JHS graduating senior, 2.5 GPA and a paragraph of what education through the Jefferson School System has meant to them. The application may be obtained from Sissy Mauldin at JHS. The deadline is April 15th for submission. It is nonrenewable.
Association membership is open to anyone. You do not have to have graduated from one of the Jefferson or Marion County Schools to be a member. Donations and memorials are welcomed and acknowledged, as additional funds aide the Association in providing more scholarship money for larger or additional scholarships.
